HVAC Service & Installation Technician

SFM Heating & Cooling is seeking an experienced HVAC Service & Installation Technician to join our growing team. This role is designed for a technician who can confidently handle residential service calls, system replacements, maintenance agreements, and commercial work. This role also includes some commercial refrigeration service. This is a lead technician role — we are looking for someone who takes ownership of their work, values craftsmanship, and wants long-term stability with a company that is scaling the right way.

• Diagnose, service, and repair residential and commercial HVAC systems
• Diagnose, service and repair commercial refrigeration equipment
• Perform full HVAC system installs and swap-outs (furnaces, ACs, heat pumps, accessories)
• Complete preventive maintenance for residential members and commercial service contracts
• Ensure all work meets company standards, manufacturer specifications, and local codes
• Accurately document work, photos, and recommendations using company-issued devices

• Educate clients on system condition, repair vs. replacement options, and energy-efficient upgrades
• Recommend appropriate solutions based on client needs — no high-pressure sales tactics
• Enroll clients into the company maintenance agreement program when applicable
• Meet reasonable production and performance benchmarks through quality work and client education

• Full-time, year-round position
• Typical schedule is weekday service with occasional emergency service

• 4+ years of HVAC service and installation experience required
• Strong diagnostic and mechanical skills
• Comfortable communicating pricing and recommendations to clients
• Ability to work independently and manage daily workload
• Experience with heat pumps or high-efficiency systems
• Light commercial experience (RTUs, maintenance contracts)
• EPA certification required

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in attics, crawlspaces, and outdoor conditions
• Ability to climb ladders and work at heights when required
• Must maintain a valid driver’s license and insurable driving record
• Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening

• Hourly base pay: $25–$40/hour, based on experience, certifications, and demonstrated ability to independently handle service calls, installs, and client communication
